Helen Clark’s aspirations exquisitely coincide with those of the Member for Eketahuna North

Fair to say, it never looked likely that Helen Clark would return to politics in this country.

But there was always the sneaky suggestion she might, especially after Annette King’s elevation in the party pecking order showed Labour’s willingness to look back to find the people to take it forward.

Accordingly it is great to learn here that –

Helen Clark has no desire to return to New Zealand politics or voice an opinion on the Kim Dotcom saga currently hogging headlines at home.

What she thinks of Kim Dotcom is neither here nor there to your hard-working member.

But he is delighted to hear her say she has no desire to return to New Zealand politics.

It remains to be seen that what she says she does not want to do, and what in fact she does not do, are the same thing.

If that were to happen and if she did not return to New Zealand politics -oh joy.

That happens to be among Alf’s aspirations.

If asked, he would tell you he does not desire to see Helen Clark return to New Zealand politics.

Even better, he would be quite cheered to hear she might not return to New Zealand.

He is bothered only that something he does not desire turns out to be the same as something Helen Clark does not desire.

He may not sleep tonight, while he broods on the meaning of this coincidence of aspirations between the urban left and rural right.
