Why waste missiles in ocean testing when they could have been used against the gangs?

The buggers who run the NZ Herald seem to be conducting a campaign to sully the name of Rob Muldoon.

Or further sully it, fair to say. Rob wasn’t the most popular of prime ministers – let’s face it – and did some daft stuff with his economic policies. Alf thought he was a bit of a bully, actually, although Mrs Grumble said she rather liked the dimple in his cheek.

Anyway, the Herald people a few days ago published a smear under the heading “Muldoon tried to get US to mislead NZ public”.

And today, so help us, they are dishing up more muck under the heading “NZ linked to nuclear missile test plan”.

Someone somewhere in that organisation obviously is carrying a grudge against our former leader.

Sri Lanka can keep sending the stuff for a morning brew but boat people are another cup of tea

Alf has been left wondering about the intelligence of Sri Lankan boat people.

He recalls Rob Muldoon’s remark about New Zealanders emigrating to Australia – they were lifting the average IQs of both countries.

Many of those who left Sri Lanka to try to come to NZ in the past decade certainly would have been boosting the average IQ of their home country. They may well have lifted Australia’s average IQ, too, if they made it as far as that country and had been allowed to settle there (although the Aussies take a strong exception to dusky-skinned refugee-seekers and boat people and strongly resist their attempts to land).

Keisha should be chuffed as Key yields the high ground

Bring back Rob Muldoon.

Yep. It sounds like a heresy.

But Rob would never have apologised to Whale Rider star Keisha Castle-Hughes – as John Key has done – for suggesting she “stick to acting” rather than debate climate change issues.

The only saving grace is that The Boss didn’t dive for the photo opportunity, as Alf previously had feared, by being pictured with the somewhat skinny lass.
